Most bands begin with an idea, but THIS FIRES EMBRACE (TFE) began with a gunshot. On December 8, 2004 Aaron Benner, (lead singer) of TFE was stage right at a Columbus concert venue called the AlRosaVilla when a crazed gunman rushed the stage and began firing. When it was all over, five people were dead including famous Pantera guitar player Dimebag Darrel Abbott.
This tragic event served as a catalyst, a life altering change in Aaron. After months of soul-searching, Aaron gave his life to Christ and had hopes to find other musicians to create music with a positive message. Josh Hall (drummer) had just recently rededicated his life to Christ when Aaron contacted him about starting a Heavy Christian Rock band. Josh went to school with Steve Malone (bassist) and also knew of (guitarist) Zack Koah. Within a few months they formed THIS FIRES EMBRACE. At the end of 2005 they begun playing shows around their hometown of Columbus, OH and also started recording their first album "Redemption."
In 2006, TFE generated a fan base all throughout Ohio and surrounding states largely due to their new sound, along with their intense/energetic live show. Their first album "Redemption" was released in May of 2006 and boosted them to a national level. The songs "On Broken Wings" and "Home Again" charted on christian rock stations across the country. "Home Again" being used as the theme song for an Ohio sports TV show as well. TFE's fan base spread as they traveled across the midwest to cities like Nashville where they placed 9th in the country at the Shout-Fest Battle of the Bands.
In 2007, they continued to play across the midwest in support of their first release "Redemption." With their radio singles climbing the christian charts they were giving even more opportunities to increase their fan base, and share the stage with national bands such as Pillar, Decyfer Down, Shinedown, Trapt, Bobaflex, Spoken, Staple, Buckcherry, Saliva, Disciple, Last Tuesday, Fireflight, Eleventyseven, Krystal Meyers, John Rueben, and many more.
In 2008, TFE began wraping up production on their next record and in summer of 08 released their sophomore album "Warrior Poets." Again TFE was able to climb the christian rock charts with their first single Warrior Poets. At this time they were asked to perform at all the major christian rock festivals including Ichthus, Cornerstone, Agape, Sonshine, and Pro-Life festivals. Their second single was a re-make of Pat Benitars 1980's hit Love Is A Battlefield. The song generated buzz across the nation for the band as it climbed the charts and for a short time served as the #1 song on AOL music online. With success of their second album Warrior Poets, TFE continued to travel the country and grow and even stronger fan base. Between 06 and 08 they were featured in a number of magazine and newspaper articles such as HM, Columbus Dispatch, Grove City Record, Circleville Herald, Out of the Blue EntDecipher, and more.
Now in 2009, TFE continues to grow and perform across the nation. Since 06, they have racked up over 565,000 plays and over 20,000 friends on their myspace. They are currently writing new music and working on a new release in hopes to get picked up by an established label and continue to tour.
